Location and History
On a notoriously windy, storm-ridden promontory (its popularity with local windsurfers gives some indication of this place's more-than-breezy status), this hotel is a 20-minute drive from central Cascais and 30 kilometers from Lisbon and the international airport.
The building was originally built as a military fort in 1642, and in 1959 it was transformed to a hotel and restaurant. To its left is the gorgeous, golden, Guincho beach, famous for its sunsets; to its right, the lighthouse of Cabo de Roca, Europe's westernmost point.
