Wynn Las Vegas recently unveiled two floral installations conceptualized by event designer Preston Bailey. The installations, a hot air balloon and an animated carousel, will reside indefinitely in Wynn’s atrium.
The pieces are made with a fiber-reinforced plastic core and adorned with more than 110,000 flowers. The hot air balloon is 20 feet tall and weighs in at 4,000 pounds, while the carousel reaches 13 feet high, is 16 feet wide and weighs 6,000 pounds. More than 3,500 hours went into completing the artistic installations.
In addition to these two sculptures, the atrium at Wynn has 50-year-old Ficus trees surrounded by a variety of green base plants and floral sculpture balls that hold nearly 50,000 flowers. Every three weeks, more than 5,000 seasonal flowering plants are transferred into the atrium, creating an ever-changing and popular space within the resort.
