Its glory days are long over, but owners of the Arctic Circle Hot Springs Resort are hoping somebody comes along with vision and deep pockets. The now-closed historical resort is for sale on Craigslist for $3 million, along with several photos that clearly show the resort northeast of Fairbanks has seen far better days.

The sellers aren’t shy about stating just what the resort needs to return to its glory days. “It will take a dedicated individual or group with a mind towards history and comfort than the bottom line” to restore the resort, the ad says.

The resort dates to the early 1900s when a man born in Kansas came to the hot springs and established a homestead while also getting access to the hot springs property, which was popular with miners needing a therapeutic soak.

Eventually, the hot springs pool was added as well as buildings and cabins. The property operated as a resort until 2002, when it closed.
