InsightConde Nast Traveler published its 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards in its November 2012 issue, which included accolades for the top 15 hotels and resorts in Las Vegas. For the most part, hotels noted in the list were fairly predictable, but a few stood out simply because they’re off the typical tourist track.

Claiming the first position were Wynn and Encore, which were named together as the top property for their “amazing views of the Strip,” “excellent on-property dining choices” and high-quality service. The Four Seasons, which takes up five floors of Mandalay Bay, received kudos for its spa, staff and views. Palazzo Las Vegas (No. 3 on the list) and its sister property, the Venetian (No. 5), were noted for their luxurious experiences, dining options and well-appointed rooms. In fourth place was Bellagio, which is known for its surroundings and Tuscan-inspired design.

Other properties on Las Vegas Boulevard that made it into the top 15 are Mandarin Oriental (No. 6), Aria (No. 7), Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (No. 8), TheHotel at Mandalay Bay (No. 11), Caesars Palace (No. 12) and the Mirage (No. 15).

Four other hotels and resorts on the list aren’t on most travelers’ radars because they aren’t on the Strip, and it’s refreshing to see these types of properties receive recognition, as well.

Trump International Hotel, which came in ninth, is often overlooked because it has no on-site casino, which can be appealing for some but a turn-off for others, depending on your perspective. The JW Marriott Las Vegas (No. 10), located in Summerlin, is a high-end resort away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip that many appreciate for its quiet and comfort. The Wyndham Grand Resort (No. 13) gets high marks for its rooms and design but lackluster reviews for its food. And Green Valley Ranch, coming in 14th, is known as a locals resort and is quite removed from the heart of Las Vegas, but that’s why many find it appealing.
