AEG Presents will be taking over management, operations and booking of the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when the property is rebranded as the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas in 2020. The new operator said it plans a makeover for the music venue, which has attracted some of the biggest acts on the music scene.

The role is an expansion of a longtime relationship between AEG and the Joint. The company previously served as talent booker for the venue.

"AEG Presents has been an integral part of the Joint's success for over a decade," said Richard "Boz" Bosworth, president and CEO of JC Hospitality LLC, owner of the Hard Rock. "AEG further expands on our commitment to partner with best-in-class operators for the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas transformation."

Renovations to the facility will begin in February. Upgrades will include a redesigned second floor to enhance the VIP experience, officials said. Luxury suites will be remodeled, and more luxury seating will aim to create a high-energy lounge environment.

When it opened in 1995, the Joint quickly achieved a reputation like that of a large garage, warmly regarded as an intimate home where close friends rocked out. A transformative expansion in 2009 doubled its capacity to 4,255.

Paul McCartney, the Killers, Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Nine Inch Nails, the Who, Imagine Dragons, Prince, Arcade Fire, Muse, Drake and No Doubt have performed at the Joint. Residencies have included Carlos Santana, Tiesto, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Kiss, Rascal Flatts and Journey.

The schedule for the rest of this year includes Mary J. Blige (Aug. 16 and 17), Brian Wilson and the Zombies (Aug. 31), Cake and Ben Folds (Sept. 10), Greta Van Fleet (Sept. 27), Daughtry with special guest Augustana (Oct. 4) and Stone Temple Pilots (Oct. 6).

"We are excited to be working with the JC Hospitality team on this project and to what is most assuredly a bright and exciting future at the Joint," said Shawn Trell, executive vice president, COO and general counsel of AEG Presents. "From a sound and sightline perspective, the Joint is already one of the best concert venues not just in Las Vegas, but anywhere."
