A new LED lighting system will illuminate the Statue of Liberty, beginning the evening of July 7.

Musco Lighting of Oskaloosa, Iowa, installed the lighting, which will provide twice the brightness level of the previous metal halide lights while reducing energy consumption by 62%, according to the National Park Service.

Musco also illuminated the Washington Monument, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, the White House, and the Flight 93 National Memorial.
