Visitors from around the globe will soon be able to view 825 miles of Florida beaches via Google Maps.
The four-month beach walk covers nearly 2 million steps along the state’s shorelines. Google’s trekker teams shared a backpack equipped with a Google StreetView camera that photographed each step of the journey. Half a million panoramic scenes comprising of 7.5 million images were gathered during the trip.
The walk started in Perdido Key in northwest Florida in July and covered the Gulf and Atlantic beaches, wrapping up at Miami Beach’s South Pointe Park.
The project is a partnership between Visit Florida and Google Maps.
Google Maps will publish the Florida beach guide in the spring.
