The Hilton-owned Waldorf Astoria brand is set to make its premiere in downtown Miami, and it will do so in a very big way. The tower that serves as the Waldorf's home will be the city's tallest building at over 1,000 feet, housing 400 luxury condos and 140 hotel rooms.

"We are incredibly excited to bring the first Waldorf Astoria to Miami," Danny Hughes, executive vice president for Hilton Management Services, said in a statement. "Miami, a vibrant, dynamic, truly cosmopolitan destination that draws travelers from all over the world, is the perfect market for our iconic Waldorf Astoria brand."

The hotel and residences building is being developed jointly by Property Markets Group, Greybrook Realty Partners and local Miami design firm S2 Development. A completion date has not been determined.

The Waldorf Astoria Miami will be the sixth in Florida.
