AmaWaterways said it will donate $500 for every stateroom sold on three European river cruise departures in 2014 and 2015 to support breast cancer awareness, prevention, research and treatment.

The cruise dates and itineraries for the breast cancer fundraiser cruises are the Enchanting Rhine cruise aboard the AmaCello on Oct. 30, 2014; the Enchanting Rhine cruise aboard the AmaCerto on Oct. 26, 2015; and the Melodies of the Danube cruise aboard the AmaSonata on Oct. 28, 2015.

“This is the first time AmaWaterways has earmarked specific sailings as charitable fundraisers to support this very worthy cause,” Kristin Karst, AmaWaterways’ executive vice president and co-owner, said in a statement. “The idea for these cruises came from recent conversations with travel agents. They made it happen.”

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an effort to promote awareness and improve information and access to services.

The 164-passenger AmaSonata is one of two AmaWaterways vessels launching in 2014. The first, the 164-passenger AmaReina, launches on April 4, and the AmaSonata will follow on July 22, which will bring the company’s European fleet size to 12. AmaWaterways has two additional vessels planned for Europe in 2015, the 164-passenger AmaSerena and AmaVista.
