Amadeus River Cruises christened the Amadeus Aurea in Amsterdam on May 12.

The Aurea is Amadeus' 18th vessel, and will sail the Rhine and Danube in its inaugural season.

Kristie Keller, owner of Addicted to Adventures and a top producer with Oasis Travel Network, was the ship's godmother, marking the first time Amadeus has bestowed the honor on a travel advisor. The river cruise line said naming Keller godmother underscores the company's commitment to the trade.

"We slowly started to realize maybe it's time to widen the circle a little bit and go from the Luftner family to the Amadeus family," said Corina Luftner, deputy CEO of Luftner Cruises, the family-owned company behind the Amadeus fleet. "Choosing the godmother is something very personal to us. It has to be someone who is really close to us, who believes in river cruising, understands what we do and is just part of the Amadeus family. And [Keller] is exactly that person."

Advancing the ecofriendly foundation of the Amadeus Nova, the Aurea features energy-efficient control systems, solar panels and a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system designed to reduce CO2 emissions.

Equipped with a dozen suites and 67 cabins, the ship can host 158 passengers across four decks.
