American Cruise Lines introduced a new era of domestic river cruising this month with the launch of the American Song this month.

The 184-passenger American Song, the first European-style modern river ship to sail in the United States, left the Port of New Orleans on Oct. 6 on its eight-day inaugural voyage to Memphis.

This ship, to be joined by a sister vessel, the American Harmony, next spring, includes some of the largest cabins in the industry and unique modern touches, including a bow with a retractable gangway.
