River cruise operator Aqua Expeditions said it will offer five new hosted voyages in 2017, two on the Mekong River and three on the Amazon.

Founder and CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro will lead four-night cruises on the Mekong departing May 26 and Aug. 25, as well as one on the Amazon departing Nov. 6.

On the Peruvian Amazon, consulting chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino will host departures Oct. 9 and Nov. 20.

During those cruises, guests will take cooking classes with Schiaffino and travel together to the local markets to learn about locally grown and harvested ingredients that are essential to creating his signature dishes on board, such as coconut tapioca with mango sorbet and causa (a potato terrine) with shrimp escabeche.

On the founder-hosted cruises, guests can join Zugaro on a biking adventure through the local streets along the Mekong or kayak with him on the gentle flows of the Amazon to spot indigenous wildlife. Over cocktails, Zugaro will discuss topics from conceptualization and design to the construction and launch of each Aqua Expeditions vessel.

Prices start at $4,860 for the Amazon cruises and $5,140 for the Mekong voyages.
