Aqua Expeditions launched its Aqua Mekong luxury river cruise vessel in Southeast Asia earlier this month, marking the company’s first foray beyond the Peruvian Amazon.
The 40-passenger vessel launched on Oct. 14 and will sail three-, four- and seven-day cruises on the Mekong River between Saigon, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
The Aqua Mekong mirrors the style of the company’s two small-ship, luxury vessels in Peru, the Aqua Amazon and Aria Amazon. It is an all-suite vessel, with each suite measuring 322 square feet. Eight of the suites feature balconies, and six have panoramic windows that open instead.
The suites each have a California King-size bed that can be converted into two twins, an iPod docking station, a dual-sink bathroom with walk-in shower and organic hair and bath products.
The vessel has four sets of two interconnecting suites available for families (two sets on each deck). Passengers can also book interconnecting suites, and configured one as a private living room and the other as a master bedroom.
There are 10 bicycles onboard provided free of charge for passengers to explore independently on shore.
The Aqua Mekong also has an indoor bar and lounge, an indoor dining room, a screening room with theater-style seating, an outdoor cinema, a library and game room with a foosball table, plunge pool with outdoor bar and shaded cabanas, a boutique, a gym, an infirmary and two spa treatment rooms — one single and one double.
The culinary program onboard is being overseen by Michelin-star Bangkok chef David Thompson.
Daily excursions will be facilitated by the Aqua Mekong’s four launch boats.
