River cruise line CroisiEurope will add a fuel surcharge to its sailings that are departing now through April 14.

The company will add a surcharge of $5.28 per person, per day, equaling $36.96 per person, on a weeklong cruise.

The company's head office in France is monitoring oil costs and assessing the fee on a weekly basis, said North America general manager Sandrah Gurash.

CroisiEurope said it would not levy a fuel surcharge on U.S. passengers departing within 30 days of the surcharge's introduction, per the line's terms and conditions.

Oil prices have surged due to the Iran war, and some companies are passing the increased costs on to customers. Some global airlines have announced fare hikes to counter higher costs.

Other river lines' plans

Tauck said it is not planning to add fuel surcharges on its cruises this year or in 2027. Other river cruise lines, such as Viking, AmaWaterways and Avalon Waterways, have fuel contracts in place and do not expect to raise costs.

Scenic Group, which owns Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Emerald Cruises & Tours, would not comment when asked if it had added a fuel surcharge or planned to do so.
