Scenic Cruises launched its seventh river vessel in Europe on Friday, the 169-passenger Scenic Jewel.

The Jewel joins Scenic’s existing fleet of ships, the Scenic Crystal, Diamond, Emerald, Pearl, Ruby and Sapphire.

Similar to the other Scenic river cruise ships, the Jewel’s staterooms feature full-size balconies that can convert into enclosed balconies by raising a glass enclosure with the touch of a button.

The cabins also have queen-size beds, a 32-inch Samsung high-definition television linked to a MiniMac computer for in-cabin Internet facilitated by a WiFi system that uses both satellite and universal mobile telecommunications systems technologies.

The Jewel has multiple dining venues, including Table la Rive (a more intimate dining option), and Portobello Restaurant, which serves Italian cuisine. There is 24-hour room service onboard. Wines, beers and soft drinks are complimentary.

The Scenic ships feature Scenic Riverview, a personal onboard GPS system that provides commentary on sites the ship passes.

The Jewel will sail a 15-day itinerary between Amsterdam and Budapest for the 2013 season.

Scenic will introduce an eighth ship, the Scenic Gem, in Europe in 2014. The Scenic Gem is being built to sail the Seine River in northern France. The itinerary will be an 11-day roundtrip cruise from Paris.

Scenic Cruises is owned by Australian parent company Scenic Tours.
