Scenic has renewed its collaboration with cycling vacation company Trek Travel for 2018, with 11 departures that feature a dedicated cycling program.
The river cruise company also added the option to use an electric-assist bike on its cycling-themed sailings this year.
Six Gems of the Danube sailings between Budapest and Nuremberg will be dedicated bike-themed itineraries, running from late May through the end of August. Five Rhine Highlights cruises between Amsterdam and Basel, running from mid-May to the end of September, will have ample biking options.
On the Trek Travel-hosted Bike & River Cruise itineraries, passengers will be given the opportunity to engage in daily 12- to 60-mile bike tours using Trek Domane SL7 carbon fiber road bikes; Trek FX hybrid bikes; or electric assist XM 700s. The seven-day cruises include daily route support with experienced bicycling guides, equipment transport, and Trek Travel picnics and/or Scenic-packed lunches that riders can take with them.
Some of the cycling highlights of the Danube sailing include biking along the vineyards of the Wachau Region, discovering Vienna's most popular cycling routes and exploring Budapest's Buda hills. Cycling highlights of the Rhine program include biking along the Alsace wine route, tasting Rieslings and Pinot Gris along the way and pedaling through the castle-dotted Rhine Gorge. There will also be plenty of non-cycling excursions including walking tours and special cultural events.
The sailings start at $6,999 per person, based on double occupancy, and include all onboard dining at six venues, gratuities, guided excursions and transfers. Bookings can be made through Trek Travel
or by calling 866-464-8735.
