Scenic Cruises will debut a new river cruise ship in Europe in 2014, the 129-passenger Scenic Gem.
In 2012, Scenic unveiled the 169-passenger Scenic Crystal in Europe and the 112-passenger Scenic Tsar on the Volga River in Russia. This April, Scenic is introducing the 169-passenger Scenic Jewel in Europe.
The news of the additional new ship comes on the heels of Scenic revealing that it has already spent nearly $10 million to rebuild five of its existing six river cruise vessels in Europe.
The five ships that were rebuilt were the 169-passenger Scenic Sapphire, Diamond, Ruby, Pearl and Crystal.
The Scenic Gem is being built to sail the Seine River in Northern France. The itinerary will be an 11-day roundtrip cruise from Paris that includes stops at Les Andelys, Rouen, Honfleur, Caudebec-en-Caux, Vernon and Conflans.
Scenic Cruises is owned by Australian parent company Scenic Tours.
