will be easier and more appealing to use when the site relaunches next summer, according to the Caribbean Tourism Development Co.

Tambourine, a digital-marketing and brand-design firm in Pompano Beach, Fla., is redesigning the site and will manage it, too.

“What is needed is a 365-day, 24/7 marketplace to showcase the overall Caribbean brand as well as carry the specific message and brand of each island. This region needs to take ownership of its customers with an online product that showcases each island with updated, fresh, specific, and authoritative content,” said Rafael Cardozo, Tambourine's president.

The site will include online chat capabilities with travel specialists for each island. General comment and review sections related to hotels and attractions also will be featured.

“Think of it as a trade show where every booth is different. In this case, each island is a booth with a different theme, message and audience,” Cardozo said. “This website will elevate each island and the region to new levels of digital smarts.”

Cardozo said the goal of the redesigned site “is to inspire travel, not to sell it. Logistics of a booking engine will come later. The site is just the beginning of a consumer’s search. It will present short, fresh morsels that lead to pathways for more in-depth information,” according to Cardozo.

Tambourine recently won Magellan Gold Awards from Travel Weekly for the development and marketing of the St. Maarten and St. Kitts websites.
