New York and Sao Paulo have agreed to cross-promote travel between the two cities.

As part of the promotion, a pop-up advertising an American Airlines $1,099 fare is appearing on the websites of NYC & Company and Sao Paulo Turismo. The fare must be purchased by April 8 for travel through Sept. 30. The fare is nonrefundable and requires a Saturday-night stay.

American operates nonstop service from New York to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as well as connecting service to the Brazilian destinations of Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Recife and Salvador.

The New York and Sao Paulo tourism sites will also feature information on each other’s city as well as suggestions on what to see and do.

New York drew 423,000 visitors from Brazil last year, said NYC & Company, making the country New York’s sixth-largest overseas market.
