Alaska Airlines will operate its first flight to Europe on Tuesday, with service between Seattle and Rome.
Alaska Flight 180 is scheduled to take off from Seattle at 5:30 p.m. local time and arrive in Rome at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.
It's the first of three European routes Alaska will launch this summer as it adds Europe to a route network that already includes Asia, Canada and Latin America as well as its Hawaii, Alaska and continental U.S. network.
On May 21, Alaska will begin flying to London Heathrow and on May 28 it begins serving Reykjavik, Iceland.
Alaska has said it will fly at least 12 long-haul routes from Seattle by 2030.
The airline's Seattle-Rome service is operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
