First-class customers on select Alaska Airlines flights can choose their meals in advance.

Alaska is billing First Class Pre-Select, which launched Oct. 10, as "a new, easy way to order your in-flight meal."

Under the program, first-class fliers can use the Alaska Airlines app to select their meal between 24 hours and two weeks before a flight. They get a choice between two entrees or a fruit and cheese platter.

First Class Pre-Select began with flights departing Seattle for Baltimore, Washington Dulles, Washington Reagan, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando. The service will be available for flights to Seattle from those cities on Oct. 24.

Alaska said its goal is to eventually offer First Class Pre-Select on all flights.
