American Airlines is planning to launch nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Beijing next year.

The carrier filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to start the route next summer.

American will fly the route with Boeing 777-200ER aircraft and is retrofitting them to include lie-flat business-class seats.

American has 10 nonstop routes between the U.S. and Asia, including routes between DFW and Hong Kong, Seoul and Shanghai.
