American Airlines has entered into a new year 10-year lease at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, its largest hub.

The deal lays out plans for 24 additional gates at DFW as part of $4.8 billion in pre-approved capital investments, the airline and airport said Tuesday. The gates would be used by American and other airlines.

American currently accounts for approximately 85% of passenger traffic at DFW, offering more than 800 peak-day flights to some 240 destinations.

The capital investments are expected to include a renovation of the airport's Central Terminal Area and Terminal C as well as gate expansions in terminals A and C.

In addition, plans call for a new 15-gate Terminal F and upgrades to roadways.
