American Airlines said new capabilities in its mobile app and on AA.com ease rebooking and provide flyers with more autonomy when flights are disrupted.

With the technology updates, American said customers see information tied to their reservation as soon as a disruption occurs. From a single screen, flyers can view suggested rebooking options, track their bags, and access hotel, meal and transportation vouchers via a QR code. Customers are informed if American is working on an automated rebooking.

Also, Lyft and Uber are built into the solution.

"It's a simpler, more intuitive way to handle disruptions, designed to reduce stress and put customers back in control," American said.

The airline said that further self-service functionality will be introduced later this year, including self-service standby options.
