Canadian ultralow-cost carrier Flair Air will begin U.S. service with six destinations this winter.

The announcement comes less than a month after Flair's ultra-low cost competitor Swoop, a subsidiary of WestJet, announced its own planned launch of U.S. service.

Flair will make its first U.S. flight on Nov. 9 with service between Edmonton and Las Vegas.

Ten more routes will commence on Dec. 15. From Winnipeg, Flair will fly to Las Vegas; Phoenix-Mesa; Palm Springs, Calif.; Miami; Orlando; and St. Petersburg, Fla. From Toronto, Flair will fly to Miami. From Edmonton, the carrier will service Phoenix-Mesa, Palm Springs, Orlando and Miami, in addition to Las Vegas.

Flair Air operates its flights with Boeing 737-400 aircraft. The carrier will go head-to-head with Swoop in the Edmonton-Las Vegas market.
