Delta will become the first U.S. airline to fly to Tulum, Mexico. Tulum's airport is slated to open this December.

Daily flights between Atlanta and Tulum will begin March 28 and operate year-round.

The airport is approximately 90 miles south of Cancun. Tulum draws tourists for its beaches, resorts and seaside Mayan ruins.

Delta's alliance partner, Aeromexico, will also be an early operator out of Tulum, flying twice daily from Mexico City beginning Dec. 1.

Delta will fly the Tulum-Atlanta route with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
