Frontier Airlines will make Boston its 106th destination beginning April 19 and will also expand its network in Raleigh-Durham, Orlando, Philadelphia and Las Vegas this spring.
The airline unveiled the expansions in a 22-route announcement on Wednesday.
Frontier will commence its Boston operations with daily flights to Orlando and four-times weekly flights to Raleigh-Durham.
Boston is among eight new destinations Frontier will fly from Raleigh-Durham as it continues a rapid build-up in North Carolina's second largest metropolitan area. Frontier will fly 31 routes from Raleigh-Durham next summer, up from just five routes in the summer of 2017, chief commercial officer Daniel Shurz said in a phone interview.
In Orlando, Frontier will fly five new routes next summer, upping its total route count to 59 -- second largest in the airline's network behind its home base of Denver. Notably, said Shurz, the addition of Houston Bush, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Baltimore and Hartford to Frontier's Orlando route map means that it will serve the theme park capital from all of the 10 largest U.S. markets and 24 of the 25 largest.
Frontier will also expand it Las Vegas map by five destinations, bringing its total Las Vegas route count to 35, and will add five destinations from Philadelphia, bringing its total route count in the City of Brotherly Love to 31.
All of Frontier's newly-announced routes will launch between April 11 and May 1. Most will operate either three or four days per week, though some will be daily and some will fly just twice a week.
