Houston Bush airport reopens

Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport reopened at 4 a.m. Friday after being closed for a portion of Thursday due to Tropical Storm Imelda.

Thursday brought 489 cancellations at Bush Intercontinental while another 87 flights were cancelled at Houston Hobby, according to FlightAware.com.

Despite the reopening of Bush Intercontinental, cancellations were still a problem Friday. As of 9 a.m., 147 flights had been cancelled and 23 flights had been delayed. The airport recorded more than nine inches of rain Thursday, according to the National Weather Service, causing flooding on nearby roadways.
