ITA Airways has become the 26th member of the Star Alliance. The Rome-based carrier's formal entry follows a yearlong integration process.
Flyers whose itineraries include ITA and another Star Alliance carrier can now make their journey with a single check-in. ITA will also now recognize the loyalty status held by flyers on other Star Alliance airlines and vice versa. Eligible ITA flyers can also now use Star Alliance lounges.
ITA is part of Lufthansa Group, which acquired a 41% stake in ITA in early 2025. The Italian government owns a majority stake.
ITA was a member of the SkyTeam alliance prior to the Lufthansa's investment.
Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, Air China, All Nippon Airways, Air New Zealand, Copa, Avianca, Singapore, Swiss and Turkish are among the Star Alliance airlines.
