Lufthansa passengers can now buy an economy row just for themselves on flights to Los Angeles.

Lufthansa's new Sleeper's Row product was made available by the carrier on Aug. 2 and can be purchased at check-in or at the gate for a surcharge of between 159 and 229 euros ($189 to $272) per route.

Sleeper's Row passengers receive a row of three or four seats to themselves, along with a mattress topper, pillow and blanket. The rows are equipped with a seat belt that can remain fastened when the passenger is lying down.

The German carrier tested the product late last year on Frankfurt-Sao Paolo flights. Sao Paolo, Los Angeles and Singapore are the three destinations featured in Lufthansa's formal rollout of the product. Lufthansa currently serves Los Angeles from Frankfurt and Munich.

The carrier said a maximum of three Sleeper's Rows will be offered per flight.
