Volaris Airlines launched service from San Diego to Guadalajara and Mexico City. The low-cost carrier offers one daily roundtrip between each of the Mexican cities.

The only other carrier with nonstop flights to Mexico out of San Diego is Alaska Airlines, which serves Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.

Meanwhile, Aeromexico launched nonstop service between Brownsville South Padre Island Airport (Texas) and Monterrey, Mexico.

The seasonal weekend service operates on Fridays and Sundays, but could be expanded if demand is high, according to Aidee Reyes, route planning coordinator.
