Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport has opened the new 15-gate South Concourse in its Terminal 3.

The concourse houses gates utilized by Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Sun Country and Hawaiian. It also is home to eight restaurants, five retail shops and a 7,500-square-foot Delta Sky Club lounge.

Among the restaurants in the new south concourse are local offerings, including Christopher's (named after James Beard Award-winning French-American chef Christopher Gross) and Tarbell's Tavern.

The South Concourse project was the second of three phases in a $590 million Terminal 3 modernization project launched by Sky Harbor in 2014. The first phase of the project was completed in 2016 with the opening of a consolidated security checkpoint, additional ticket counters and an expansion in baggage-handling capacity.

The third phase of the project, a renovation of the terminal's north concourse, is slated to be completed in 2020.
