Low-fare transatlantic
carrier Norwegian Air will start flying to Madrid, Amsterdam and Milan from the
U.S. next spring and summer.
Norwegian will compete with
Oneworld alliance partners American and Iberia when it launches Madrid service
from New York JFK, operating three flights per week starting July 18.
Los Angeles-Madrid flights
will operate four times per week starting July 16. Norwegian will be the lone
carrier operating nonstop service year-round on the route.
Service from New York to
Amsterdam begins May 7 and will operate four times per week. Norwegian will
take on SkyTeam partners Delta and KLM in the market.
Norwegian will be the only
airline operating flying nonstop from Los Angeles to Milan. It will operate the
service four times per week, starting June 18.
Norwegian will use Boeing 787
Dreamliner aircraft on all the new routes.
To support growth at Los
Angeles International Airport, Norwegian will open its fourth American crew
base with 150 cabin crew members during the first quarter of 2018. The airline
already has crew bases in Fort Lauderdale, Boston and New York.
