The World Cup, which begins on Thursday in Russia, has
sparked a jump in flight bookings to the country, Travelport has found.
According to Travelport, flight bookings are up 34% year over
year with 136,503 more passengers.
Bookings from Germany had the greatest volume growth, with
16,213 more bookings, a 44% increase.

Italy saw the largest fall in flight bookings to Russia,
which Travelport attributed to its failure to qualify for the World Cup for the
first time in 60 years: bookings dropped to 5,204, or 18%.
