Virgin Australia will begin nonstop service between Melbourne and Los Angeles on April 4.

The service will be offered as part of the joint venture between the Australian carrier and Delta. Flights will operate five days per week.

Virgin Australia will compete on the route with United and Qantas. The carrier previously flew Los Angeles-Melbourne, but dropped the route in October 2014.
