Icelandic budget carrier Wow Air will suspend Miami-Reykjavik
service on April 7, making it the first U.S. route that the rapidly expanding
airline has either suspended or canceled since beginning U.S. service in
2015.
"The Miami route will be paused this summer, with the
possibility of resuming in the fall," a WOW Air spokesperson said.
Wow began flying to Miami thrice weekly in April of last
year. Until April 7, the carrier will fly Miami-Reykjavik two or three times
per week.
Wow is slated to fly to 13 U.S. destinations this summer,
including six new locations -- New York Kennedy, Detroit, St. Louis, Cleveland,
Dallas and Cincinnati.
"The decision to make it more of a seasonal route was
made a few months ago as Wow Air is constantly evaluating our customers' needs
and adjusting as needed," Romano said.
