Amtrak is adding an evening express train to its high-speed Acela service between New York and Washington, boosting the number of weekday roundtrips to 16.
The additional train, beginning Jan. 28, will operate northbound from Washington’s Union Station at 8 p.m., arriving at New York’s Penn Station at 10:45 p.m.
The southbound departure is at 9:15 p.m., arriving in Washington at 11:59 p.m.
Both will stop at Baltimore; Wilmington, Del.; Philadelphia; and Newark.
The train will offer business-class and first-class service. Inventory is in the res system as trains No. 2128 (northbound) and 2175 (southbound).
Acela Express trains, Amtrak’s fastest, reach speeds of up to 150 mph on some segments.
