ScottThompson-dollarDollar Thrifty Automotive Group, parent of the Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental brands, named Scott Thompson as president and CEO.

Thompson, at left, succeeds Gary Paxton, who will retire from the company Dec. 31; Paxton will provide consulting services to the company through Oct. 31, 2009, Dollar Thrifty said.

Thompson joined the company earlier this year as senior executive vice president and CFO. He previously served as executive vice president of operations and finance for KSA Industries, a private enterprise. 

In other organizational news, H. Clifford Buster will succeed Thompson as executive vice president and CFO, beginning Oct. 27. Buster previously served various finance positions with Helix Energy Solutions Group and Group 1 Automotive.

Completing the company's executive management team are Vicki Vaniman, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary; Rick Morris, executive vice president and chief information officer; Dan Regan, executive vice president of fleet and business intelligence; and James Duffy, executive vice president of corporate operations.
