TULSA, Okla. -- Thrifty Car Rental sold seven new franchised territories in the past three months. As a result, the firm opened suburban locations in Ottawa and Morris, Ill.; Clayton, N.C., and Newburgh, N.Y.

The company also opened three in-terminal sites at airports in Waco, Texas; Springfield-Branson, Mo., and Kearney, Neb.

According to Jeff Bevis, staff vice president for franchise sales, Thrifty in 1999 added 28 new markets representing at least 49 new U.S. locations, thereby adding some 4,000 vehicles to existing fleet levels. Thrifty formerly was off-airport at Springfield-Branson.

At the Kearney Municipal Airport, air traffic doubled recently when United Express launched commuter service.

The location serves government and university customers as well as a growing number of corporate clients.
