L.A. property targets smaller events


LOS ANGELES -- The Regal Biltmore Hotel, a meetings property here, rolled out Biltmore Express Meetings, a program aimed at planners who specialize in smaller meetings with shorter lead times.

The program is designed to be a one-stop shop for planners, offering customized packages, according to Peter Rockwood, director of sales and marketing at the Regal Biltmore Hotel.

"This is a major step for the Regal Biltmore toward meeting our diverse planners' needs," Rockwood said. "Express Meetings saves time and money through efficient allocation of services."

Services available include guest-room reservations, catering, audiovisual services, a full-service business center with high-speed Internet access and video conferencing, valet and self parking, billing and payment plans, promotional tie ins with the hotel and its restaurants, and any other requests the client may have, Rockwood said.

The Regal Biltmore has more than 70,000 square feet of meeting space, with 16 separate convention and banquet rooms. Those spaces include the 16,800-square-foot Biltmore Bowl that can accommodate 1,000 and the 6,000-square-foot Crystal Ball Room, which seats 600 theater style.

Another benefit for planners, according to Rockwood, is the ability to work with Brian Lagarce, the newly appointed corporate sales specialists at the property. Lagarce will assist planners and coordinate the details of the event. He has served as catering manager at the Regal Biltmore since 1996, where he covered all aspects of event and meeting planning.
