WASHINGTON -- McDonald's is an Orbitz corporate customer.
Steve Hafner, Orbitz executive vice president of consumer travel
services, said McDonald's actually signed on for Orbitz for
Business about a month-and-a-half ago. He revealed the identity of
this Orbitz client Feb. 28 in Washington, D.C., at The Masters
Program, a forum for travel industry executives.
Orbitz for Business targets small and medium-sized businesses,
and Hafner said it "doesn't aspire to be an American Express."
But he said it has attracted interest from some larger
companies, including, obviously, McDonald's.
In separate development, thousands of travel agents have become
registered Orbitz members, Hafner said at the forum.
He added he doesn't know how many signed up for personal use
versus agency use, but said there are at least some agents who have
used it for hundreds of bookings a year.
