Northstar Travel Group, parent of Travel Weekly, has expanded its meetings portfolio with the acquisition of publications and events from Schneider Publishing.

Northstar has acquired two publications, SportsTravel and Association News, and two conference series, the TEAMS Conference + Expo and Meetings Quest.

In addition, Northstar has bought the rights to the Shamrock Shootout Golf Classic, the longest-running golf tournament in the hospitality industry. The tourney recently was named the exclusive golf tournament of the IMEX America trade show, which will be held Oct. 10-12 in Las Vegas.

Timothy Schneider, president and CEO of Schneider Publishing, joins Northstar Travel Group as founder and chairman of the company's new Sports Division. The division will be a part of Northstar's Meetings Group, which includes publications Meetings & Conventions, Successful Meetings, Meeting News and Incentive, plus the group's in-person events.

TEAMS, an event presented in association with SportsTravel, will be held Oct. 30 -- Nov. 2 in Orlando. Launched in 1998, TEAMS attracts 1,000-plus attendees, including CEOs, executive directors and event managers from sports organizations as well as representatives from sports commissions and convention bureaus, corporate sponsors and event suppliers.

Meetings Quest, Association News' live event, is the longest-running trade show for meeting planners in the U.S.
