PHILADELPHIA -- Rosenbluth International was awarded several new travel accounts, foremost of which is the $49 million air account of Santa Clara, Calif.-based 3Com Corp.

Rosenbluth said it will handle the 3Com account from its reservations center in Fargo, N.D., and at an on-site location at 3Com headquarters. Rosenbluth also gained the Aristech Chemical Corp., Bechman Coulter Inc. and Foxboro accounts. Aristech Chemical, based in Pittsburgh, previously was handled by American Express. Rosenbluth will begin serving Aristech's $6 million account Dec. 1 from an on-site location in Pittsburgh.

Bechman Coulter, based in Fullerton, Calif., awarded Rosenbluth the contract for all its U.S.-originating travel, about $16 million. Bechman Coulter provides instrument systems for clinical laboratories. Rosenbluth began working with Bechman four years ago.

Bechman recently acquired Coulter Corp. The company was renamed Bechman Coulter, and it put its travel contract out to bid.

Patty McCoy, administrative and travel services manager at Bechman Coulter, said the deciding factors in awarding the business to Rosenbluth were lower operating fees, strong management support and strong reporting capabilities.

Rosenbluth will serve the Bechman Coulter account from two on-site locations, one in Fullerton and the other in Miami. Foxboro, part of the Intelligent Automation division at Siebe PLC, named Rosenbluth to manage its travel in Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Singapore.

Travel volume at Foxboro is $6.5 million.
