Travel management company BCD Travel has acquired Travelocity Business, Travelocity’s corporate travel agency.
Travelocity Business, widely known as TBiz, will continue serving clients under the TBiz brand. BCD Travel said the TBiz team brings “creative talents” to the company, “further paving the way for expanded innovation for clients.”
“We’re a growth-oriented company and see this move as a smart, strategic acquisition,” said Mike Janssen, president of BCD Travel’s Americas region.
BCD Travel plans to offer TBiz clients access to its global network and its services in travel program consolidation, business analytics and consulting, and meetings.
Travelocity Business President Yannis Karmis will not be among the TBiz team transferring to BCD Travel. Karmis will stay with Travelocity Global as president of Travelocity Partner Network.
TBiz launched in 2003, during a time when the online agencies entered the corporate travel business. Orbitz and Expedia launched corporate travel agencies in 2002.
BCD Travel is No. 5 on Travel Weekly’s 2013 Power List. Its U.S. headquarters is located in Atlanta.
