The U.S. State Department has nominated Chile for inclusion in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program.

Chile would become the first South American country to join the program. If the country is accepted, Chileans would be able to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less.

Before Chile can join, the country must undergo a verification process. Chile must meet the program’s security and information-sharing requirements.
