FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt was arrested on Saturday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the police department in Fairfax, Va. He was placed on paid administrative leave after the arrest.
Babbitt reportedly was driving on the wrong side of Old Lee Highway in Fairfax. Babbitt was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not involved in any crash, the police said.
Babbitt, 65, has been the FAA’s administrator since June 2009. He is a former pilot and was once the head of the Air Line Pilots Association.
