Mexico’s government has withdrawn provisional permits for the development of Cabo Cortes, a massive resort planned for the southern tip of Baja California.
According to reports, Mexico President Felipe Calderon said the developer couldn’t prove that the resort would not harm the Cabo Pulmo marine park and its protected coral reef.
The developer, Madrid-based Hansa Urbana, had received initial permits to build a resort on 9,500 acres. There were plans for 15 hotels (about 30,000 guestrooms), two golf courses and a marina.
