NEW YORK — Capella Hotels and Resorts will manage the Setai Fifth Avenue in New York, a luxury hotel scheduled to open Nov. 1.
Capella CEO Horst Schulze called the addition of the Setai "a defining moment for our brand," at an event on Monday.
"This project moves us into a different ballpark," said Schulze, a former president of Ritz-Carlton.
The hotel will include 214 rooms on the first 16 floors of a 60-story building; there will be 190 condos in the floors above.
The Setai will feature a restaurant, bars, a spa, a health club and 2,500 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel’s managing director will be Guenter Richter, who previously had been managing director of the St. Regis New York.
Capella currently manages hotels in Velden, Austria; Dusseldorf, Germany; Ixtapa and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Telluride, Colo.; and Sentosa Island, Singapore.
