Cambria Suites, the all-suite brand launched last year by Choice Hotels International, is proving to be a hot property for hotel developers.
With two Cambria Suites already under construction and deals for 13 more already signed, Choice said another 10 Cambria properties were approved for development during the first quarter of 2006.
“We had a strong first year of development, and we met the excitement generated by that activity with an even more robust first quarter,” said Brad LeBlanc, vice president, franchise sales, for the Cambria Suites brand. “We have every reason to believe the development momentum will continue, especially with all the positive feedback we continue to receive from current and potential developers. People see the value in the Cambria product for multiple markets -- from mixed-use developments and airport locations to suburban spots and even urban areas.”
Sites for future Cambria Suites hotels include Akron/Canton and Columbus, Ohio; Appleton, Green Bay, Madison, Oak Creek, Wis.; Baltimore; Bloomington, Minn. (near the Mall of America); Boise, Idaho; Cathedral City, Ontario and Victorville, Calif.; Denver (at the airport) and Fort Collins, Colo.; Fort Myers, Fla.; Kent Island, Md.; Phoenix; Savannah, Ga.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; Somerset, N.J.; and Southport and Wilmington, N.C.
Designed to compete with Hilton Garden Inn and Courtyard by Marriott, Cambria Suites is aimed primarily at business travelers. Design components include a two-story lobby area, a fitness center, an indoor pool and an upscale cafe. Guest rooms will feature a bright, contemporary look and plasma-screen televisions.
