Coral Hotels & Resorts, with four
all-inclusive properties in the Dominican Republic, entered into a
management alliance with Globalia Hotels & Resorts, a division
of Globalia, a Spanish conglomerate which owns the Spanish airline
Air Europa, a chain of travel agencies in Spain and Portugal and an
outbound Spanish tour operator.
Under terms of
the alliance, Globalia assumes management of three of the Coral
properties: the Coral Hamaca in Boca Chica, the Coral Canoa in
Bayahibe and the Coral Marien in Puerto Plata.
The Costa Caribe
in Juan Dolio remains under the management of Coral Hotels &
Resorts.
The properties
will be integrated into the sales and marketing structures of the
Globalia Hotel Group that includes 13 Oasis hotels in Mexico; the
Panorama, Varadero 1920 and Playa Coco hotels in Cuba; and the
Globalia hotels in Spain and Tunisia.
"This integration
is a key element in our plans for future development and is
fundamental to our goal of becoming one of the main hotel chains in
the Caribbean," said Juan Jose Hidalgo, president of Globalia
Hotels & Resorts.
The signing of
the alliance by both Globalia and Coral "is an example of the
confidence of foreign investors in the business climate of the
Dominican Republic, especially in the potential for growth of the
tourism industry," according to Julio Llibre, executive vice
president of Coral Hotels & Resorts.
